For bakeries

Help people find your cakes before the weekend.

A bakery sells two ways: to whoever walks past, and to people who plan ahead for a birthday or an event. Start with the orders you want more of.

What nearby customers search for

Planned orders start with a search for the occasion; everyday visits start with what is fresh and close.

Example searches

  • birthday cakes near me
  • custom cakes near me
  • sourdough near me
  • bakery open now
  • croissants near me

What to grow

  • Celebration and custom cakes. Orders taken days ahead, often the biggest sales of the week.
  • Bread and pastries. The daily counter trade, and wholesale to cafés nearby.
  • Catering orders. Platters for offices and events.

Walk-ins and orders

How a bakery sells

Walk-ins at the counter every day, plus cake and catering orders taken by phone, email, message or an online form, and sometimes wholesale. Planned orders are where a website and a listing do most of the work.

What OwnerCue can read for a bakery today

Reads today

  • The free competitor report: where you and up to three nearby rivals appear in the same Google searches, and what their pages show that yours do not.
  • Website visits, the booking, order or call clicks you already track, and the searches you appear in, from Google Analytics and Search Console, read-only.
  • A sales export from your till, point-of-sale or payment system: one row per sale, with its date and amount.

Not yet

  • Walk-ins and orders as records of their own. There is no walk-in or order export yet, and the booking import expects appointments.
  • Which products sold, such as cakes against bread. A sales export is read one row per sale, without line items.
  • A direct connection to your till, booking or order system. Fresha and Square come in as CSV files; other tools are not connected.

The kind of finding the free report shows

Competitors have a page about custom cakes; none of your fetched pages does

  1. The question

When someone nearby searches for a custom birthday cake, can they tell this bakery makes them and how to order one?

  2. The evidence

Two of the three nearby bakeries in the report have a page titled for custom cakes. This bakery's fetched pages mention cakes only in the opening hours and a photo gallery.

  3. The week's action

Write a custom cakes page with the lead time, the sizes, how to order and who to contact, and link it from the home page. Record the change and send yourself a test enquiry.

  4. What it will not show

How many cake orders came from the page. Orders are not imported yet, and a busy month can have many causes.
